COACHING YOUTH SPORTS

In many cases new parent/coaches need more intense instruction than what can be presented in a workshop. It is crucial that coaches understand proper technique and how to identify correctible errors in the skill sets their players need to learn. Through one on one or small group instruction we can provide a more intense "hands on" experience for your new coaches so they can gain the confidence they need to teach these skills to their players. We will take your coaches out on the field to help them learn to perform individual skills and better understand team concepts on offense and defense. We will also walk through a "simulated practice" so coaches can learn to properly introduce and demonstrate a skill, detect common errors, and lead players through drills that are closely aligned with the offense and defense your players hope to master.

There are also certain aspects of the game, namely goaltending and face-off, that are vitally important but where coaches often aren't able to spend enough practice time with these players. We will teach you how to goal tend and face-off, and then help you develop a practice routine that your players can work through on their own.  Most teams do not have a goalie or face off coach, so empowering these players is crucial to a team's success. 

We also offer this service to high schools and middle schools, ready to help new programs or new coaches learn the important skills and concepts they need to understand and communicate to their players. Coach Brown will also draw on his years of experience as a Head Coach to address issues of player dynamics, cutting players, playing time, the use of captains, and other issues pertinent to a school program. Given the level of competition and physcial contact at these levels, it is vital that these coaches be properly prepared so that your student-athletes take the field with the skills necessary to play lacrosse safely and successfully.
